Africans were brought to America by Europeans, not of their own volition, but in chains, without the knowledge that over the next several hundred years, generations and generations of our people would be brutally and unjustly treated as nothing more than property or animals. The era during which slavery flourished, Africans were bred, overworked, beaten, lynched, and stripped of any positive identity or self respect. When slavery was abolished in 1865, Africans, or former slaves, were left without a â€Å"place† in America. Where did they fit in? What was the role that they were to play as, so called, American citizens? Some, undertook the role of â€Å"leader†, and preached and taught what they felt was the best process by which, blacks could achieve equality. From the beginning, however, there were conflicts concerning the nature of how this was to be accomplished. This discrepancy over passive and aggressive attitude concerning the advancement of blacks in America h as permeated, and at times, divided the black community from the time that Africans were brought here in chains, until the present. Malcolm X’s philosophies, which centered more on blacks accepting themselves, and loving themselves, and creating their own sense of pride, was deemed racist by the media and he was portrayed as militant/violent by the Civil Rights Activists, when in fact Malcolm X’s teachings contain the exact remedy that we â€Å"victims of America† (Malcolm X uses this term to distinguish the fact that blacks were not brought to America out of their own volition) need in order to live the best lives in the conditions that we have been forced into by whites.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Booker T. Washington, born in 1856, was a prominent leader of the black community during the years following the abolishment of slavery, who believed that equality and respect for blacks would be gained over time. Washington preached to his followers that they should work on bettering themselves, not through liberal education, but by learning a trade or vocation which could be of service to either the black or white community, and that in time, whites would allow blacks to assimilate into their society. William Edward Burghardt Dubois, born in 1868 and more commonly known as W. E. B Dubois, was Washington’s adversary. Dubois preached that blacks should demand their rights, both human and civil, and that this w... ...proach of the Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. King and financed by whites, would lead to the loss of black pride because it would encourage blacks to â€Å"try to be white† in order to â€Å"fit in† the white society. Today, blacks have the same legal rights as whites, but there is still blatant racism in America. Blacks have integrated into the white society, and the loss that Malcolm feared has become a reality. We straighten our hair in order to make it look like theirs, wear their clothes, and learn a school curriculum that centers around their history. There are more black men in prison than in college, and the percentage of black owned businesses is considerably disproportionate to the black population. The Civil Rights Movement was successful, and the Black Power Movement has been forgotten, but have blacks found their â€Å"place†? Economics Introduction                   Adam Smith and Karl Marx are some of the few economists whose school of thoughts impacted the world’s economy through different generations. Smith argued that when individuals of a society work in self-interest, they collectively afford to acquire services and goods the society requires. This mechanism is famously known as â€Å"the invisible hand,† in Adam’s book The Wealth of Nations. Contrast with Adam’s theory, Karl Marx believes that a capitalist will take advantage of his labor forces for his own self-interest, and therefore it is better for individuals to be community oriented(Jingham & Girija, 2014).                   According to Smith, economic recession is the situation where there is a drop in the economy. Lack of employment is one of the indicators of a recession situation. Therefore, if each individual takes the initiative to generate income for self-interest, they will end up collectively averting an economic recession period.                   According to Karl Marx, greed and self-interest are not good for businesses and they are hazards in the society. Greed in business can occur when the rich business owners take advantage of their employees for their own self-interest and growth(Skousen, 2012). This amplifies the gap between the poor and the rich.                   However. Greed and self-interest can also be beneficial to any given business and society. Adam Smith’s school of thought contradicts with the moral values and ethics on greed andself-interest(Jingham & Girija, 2014). Greed will make individuals work extra hard in their distinct fields and, in the long run, these individual self-motivated interests add up to the aggregate well-being of the business. An example is an accountant, a procurement manager, the marketer, and the administrator, all working with self-interest will eventually jointly contribute greatly to the success of the business and the society.                   According to my current group, it is ethical for each member to work jointly with the rest of the members to achieve the group’s set objectives. Greed and self-interest are considered unethical for the group because it may lead to the dissolving of the group. My paper is on Anne Frank remembered. A little about Anne Frank she is one of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Her diaries are very famous for many reason one that it tells about life during the holocaust and how she was able to survive as a little girl. Her diaries are a look at the holocaust it is an aspiration for many. As I watched the film I could feel the struggles that Anne Frank was going through and I find her courage during the times to be uplifting the more that I watched the documentary the more that I feel like I was there with her feeling her pain and just in all her courage. Anne Frank was the hope of all the people during that time and holocaust. The documentary explained how the Germans had occupied Holland and how some of the people in Holland was hidden away in some of the houses of friends and allies. One of the people that was hidden away in opekta was Anne frank and her family it mentioned that Anne frank was called upstairs because people wanted to hide in the house and asked her what she thought. Anne Frank was offered a job by the boss of the house of cooking she was asked if she was able to cook a certain dish and she had said yes and so she was giving the job of cooking for the house. She was giving more jobs and responsibilities in the house and was trusted by her boss.

It replaced the one-year Short Term Agreement that existed at the time. LTA underwent several renewals and was subsequently replaced by the Multi-Fibre Agreement (MFA) in 1974, which was expanded to cover exports of synthetic fibres and woolen products, besides cotton. MFA came into force to allocate export quotas to the low cost developing countries, limiting the amount of imports to countries whose domestic industries were facing serious challenge from rapidly increasing imports. It sought to expand trade, reduce barriers to trade and progressively liberalise world trade. The MFA regime existed for 25 years, until 1994 when the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations resulted in the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC). The ATC sought to phase out all quota restrictions in four phases spread over a period of 10 years. The first three partial phase-outs were in January 1995, January 1998 and January 2002. The final one is due on January 01, 2005. This came into force along with the WTO framework for multilateral trade in 1995: stipulated that the quota system for textile exports and imports under the Multi-Fibres Agreement (MFA) was finally phased out on January 1, 2005. More specifically, in terms of the agreement, the transition period, which began in 1995, would be operative for ten years and, by the end of that time, all textiles and apparel articles will have to be brought under the GATT discipline, subject to the same rules, as are the products of other sectors. China and the Multi-Fibre Agreement: - China was a participant country of the MFA, the implications of the end of the MFA regime on world trade generally in textiles and apparel, also the projected impact on the Chinese textile and apparel industry. To set the perspective, the MFA was negotiated under GATT 1947 and was functional from 1974 to 1994. In the eyes of the USITC, the agreement was intended to deal with domestic market disruption in importing countries: that is, developed economies - while allowing the exporting, or developing, nations to expand their textile and apparel trade as much as possible. This was achieved by the MFA through the instrument of negotiating bilateral agreements on export quotas. Cotton fibre is considered as an agricultural product and therefore covered by the WTO agreement on agriculture. All other cotton-based products, such as yarn, weaves and other textile products were subject, until January 2005 to the Multi-fibres Agreement. That agreement which came into force in 1974 was intended to protect the textile industries of developed countries from the growing exports of developing countries by way of a system of quotas. The European Union's Cotton Textile Policy: - The EU cotton regime was put in place in 1981 when Greece joined the European Economic Community. The accession of Spain and Portugal in 1986 enlarged the number of countries covered by the WTO agreement on cotton. Aid was paid to cotton ginners on condition that cotton producers benefited from a minimum price per tone of cottonseeds. This system made it possible to protect producers from variations in world prices while enabling companies to sell cotton fiber at the international price. The aid per tone of cottonseeds was equal to the difference between the guide price (fixed every year) and the world market price. The payment of aid was limited to a maximum guaranteed quantity (MGQ) set annually.
